swakara fever! Record price for April auction

Exchange rate: DKK 100 = EUR 13.41 USD: DKK 100 = USD 19.42

swakara’s April offering of 61,474 sold 100% in a room of almost full capacity; an attendance not seen for years, representing all fur markets. Competition was fierce, pushing prices to an even higher level in Danish Krone, with many buyers unable to obtain any pelts at all. The average price for the collection was DKK 393.69, which represents an increase of 40% over September.

The offer comprised of: 51,510 black, 6,383 white, 2,281 spotted, and 1,300 coloured C.

Twenty-six buyers competed strongly for the black collection, with Yoshitake Ninomiya dominating the buying for Greece, with hot competition from Carlo Guida Ltd and Time Ever Trading from Hong Kong. The top lot of White O Light Purple was bought by Bourtsos S.A. for DKK 1,550, which is the highest price ever paid for swakara! The top black lot, O Light Purple Extra, was bought by Carlo Guida for Markos Varnis from Greece for DKK 1,450.

Unusually, strong prices were obtained over the entire range, with even developed types of good quality fetching high prices. Once again, the white collection was the subject of severe competition resulting in a white average of DDK 637.

The next swakara collection will be available in September 2011, at Kopenhagen Fur. See you there!
