April 2010 Sale Report

EUR exchange rate: DKK 100 = EUR 13.43 USD: DKK 100 = USD 18.26

Swakara’s April offering of 75,516 sold 100% amid strong competition, pushing prices to a new higher level in Danish krone. The average price of DKK 258.49 represented a 31% increase from September 2009.

Twenty-six buyers competed strongly for this flatter collection. Japanese buyer Yoshitake Ninomiya once again dominated the buying, with hot competition from England, Greece, USA and Germany. The top lot, White K Flat Purple Extra, was bought by Carlo Guida Ltd for DKK 710. The top black lot, D Purple Extra was bought by Vinicio Pjaro for DKK 530.

Overall, the white collection was once again in hot demand. This is the first time in at least forty years that a semi-flat type has fetched the top price. As the policy this time was to award a certificate to the highest prices paid for both black and white lots after the auction, this top lot price represented a true value. The top lot of White K Flat Purple Extra was exceptional, with medium hair length, strong pattern character and tight curl formation.

The next Swakara auction is in September, see you there!
